This room has sat empty since we moved into this h This room has sat empty since we moved into this house eight years ago…mostly because I had no creative vision for what to do with the space.

And as someone who loves beauty and order, I have felt sad about this part of our home languishing for so long. But, for what has felt like a drawn out season, all my creative energy and margin has gone to tending to our little family.

I’ve come to realize that making a home takes time. It isn’t necessarily about seasonal decor from Target (although I love it!), but more about building rituals and routines that create a culture for our family to thrive in.

Recently, we took on those blank walls and the intimidating sound echo and started a home project to make a wall full of bookshelves! It's going to be a library that reflects our love of books and habits of reading…a beautiful marriage of space and family culture.

In hindsight, I’m glad that it took me so long to get a creative spark about this space and that I didn’t pressure myself to decorate this room just because it was empty. What has unfolded is even better than I imagined and I’m so glad that I didn’t rush it.

Homework is in full swing and I’m enjoying these Homework is in full swing and I’m enjoying these simple moments. During these sobering times, it is a respite for the soul.
I’ve been spending more and more time in this ro I’ve been spending more and more time in this room working on a creative project…it has been a sweetly inspiring space to come into. The heavy brass door handle, the creaky but engulfing leather chair and the ambient lighting are reassuring elements as I create.

I’m looking forward to sharing with you what I have been working on…I want to say that I will reveal it soon, but it is taking more time than I thought (isn’t that always the way?). But somehow starting to talk about it out loud makes it more real and perhaps that will help push the timeline along!

Either way, something beautiful is coming and I’ll keep you posted!
Happy Son’s Day! I’m not sure if it was yester Happy Son’s Day! I’m not sure if it was yesterday or today (who cares!), but I wanted to celebrate this sweet guy. He loves dragons, his pretend pipe and wants to be a knight when he grows up.

Three years ago, we were struggling with secondary infertility and reoccurring miscarriage. My heart was so weary…I remember telling the Lord that this cycle was the last one…I was done trying and didn’t have it in me to hope or keep going in the fertility journey.

Miraculously, I got pregnant that cycle…and the baby made it safely past the dangerous first trimester and has been thriving ever since.

When I look at Alexander, I see God’s faithfulness when my heart despaired and his incredible tenderness when I had no hope.

Happy Son’s Day, sweet Alexander! You are such a gift to our family and so greatly loved!
